Cetirizine is an antihistamine. This medicine is used to treat or prevent symptoms of allergies. You can also reduce itchy skin rash and hives.This medicine may be used for other purposes, if you have any questions consult your health care provider or pharmacist.
What should I tell my healthcare professional before taking this medicine?
Need to know if you have any of the following conditions:
liver disease
renal disease
an unusual or allergic reaction to cetirizine, hydroxyzine, other medicines, foods, dyes or preservatives
if you are pregnant or trying to get pregnant
if you are breast-feeding
How do I use this medicine?
Take cetirizine medication by mouth with a glass of water. Chew thoroughly before swallowing. Follow the directions on the label. This medicine may be taken with or without food. Do not take more often than directed. You may need to take this medicine for several days before symptoms improve.
Talk to your pediatrician regarding the use of this medicine in children. While this drug may be prescribed for selected conditions, precautions do apply.
Overdose: Please immediately contact a poison control center or emergency room if you think you have taken too much medication.

What if I miss a dose?
If you miss a dose, take it as soon as possible. If it is almost time for your next dose, take only that dose. Do not take double or extra doses.

You may experience drowsiness or dizziness. Do not drive or operate machinery, or do anything that may remain on alert until you know how this medication affects you. Do not stand or sit up quickly, especially if a patient is elderly. This reduces the risk of dizzy or fainting.
You may get dry mouth. Chewing sugarless gum or sucking hard candy and drinking plenty of water will help keep your mouth moist. If the problem persists or is severe, consult your doctor.

changes in vision or hearing
fast heartbeat
high blood pressure
infection

sore throat
stomach ache
swelling
